Hyogo University of Teacher Education is a front-runner in the field of both practice of and research into teacher education in Japan. As a university specializing in this area, we have an excellent faculty of teacher education, as well as one of Japan's largest Master's and professional degree programs and Ph.D.program.
Hyogo University of Teacher Education has so far concluded agreements with 31 universities and 1 board of education in 13 countries in Asia, the United States, and Europe for the purpose of implementing exchanges between researchers and students. The university also has a wide range of facilities, including residential houses for international researchers and students, and an environment where they can experience Japan's nature and culture with the warm support of local residents.
Hyogo University of Teacher Education was established in October, 1978 as an institute with two programs embodying a new concept of education. The Graduate School of Education (Master's Program) provides in-service teachers with opportunities to carry out high-level research on education. On the other hand, the Faculty of School Education (The Teacher Education Program) mainly prepare students to be school teachers. Then in April, 1996, the Joint Graduate School in the Science of School Education (Ph. D. Program) was opened to develop educators with high level research and teaching abilities.
