Practical programs are researched and developed to work out, on a scientific basis, approaches aiming to solve various forefront issues in schools, through a combination of the outcome of academic research in school education with the practical knowledge based on implementation of quality education in schools.

Department of Instructional Development in Forefront Issues	The department intends to develop programs for implementation of education in schools and contribute to the establishment of educational practices, including basic and practical research on school education, taking "solving urgent and complex issues in school education" as a basic concept.

Field of Content Area Instruction

In the Field of Content Area Instruction, research is conducted in terms of the principles, content, and methodology needed for research on both content area instruction and disciplines related to content area instruction based on the key concept of each constituent department of the field. In the exploration of the principles, the objectives and aims of each subject are investigated. In the study of content, related disciplines are integrated so as to form a firm foundation of the content of subjects from the perspective of education in practice. In the inquiry towards methodology, fulfillment of education in practice is undertaken on the basis of the investigation of the development of cognition and behavior of infants, pupils, and students, and, at the same time, the design of creative and leading curricula is pursued, incorporating the results of investigations into the principles and content.

Department of Social Science Education	On the basis of the research results of related academic disciplines, research is carried out to promote social recognition with the aim of improving the quality of social studies education and developing new curricula.
Department of Natural Science Education	On the basis of the research results of related academic disciplines, research is conducted to advance scientific creativity and realization of the power of science with the aim of improving the quality of natural science education and developing new curricula.
Department of Fine Arts and Music Education	On the basis of the research results of related academic disciplines, research is carried out to promote artistic expression and appreciation of art with the aim of improving the quality of fine arts education and developing new curricula.
Department of Health and Living Sciences Education	On the basis of the research results of related academic disciplines, research is done to realize environmental adaptation and creation with the aim of improving the quality of health and living sciences education and developing new curricula.
